Queensland records 18 new community cases of COVID-19, three new Omicron cases confirmed

 Queensland authorities are "actively considering" the return of a mask mandate after the state recorded 22 new cases of COVID-19, including 18 that have spent time in the community while potentially infectious. The local cases spent up to a week in the community and were recorded in Brisbane's south, Brisbane's north, the Darling Downs, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, West Moreton, the Wide Bay and Townsville. Former Toowong Bowls Club to become site of Brisbane's newest public primary school

 The former Toowong Bowls Club near Perrin Park has been revealed as the location for a new inner-west Brisbane school — Queensland's first vertical public primary school.  The state government announced the location today, after almost a year of back and forth about the proposed locations. The first proposed location was the Indooroopilly State High School campus announced in January this year. The Palaszczuk government announced the $65 million commitment to build a new inner-west primary school to alleviate enrolment pressure in the western suburbs in mid-2020. Queenslanders could be asked to wear a mask at GP clinics as state faces COVID community transmission

 Medical clinics across Brisbane are asking patients and staff to wear masks as they prepare for widespread COVID-19 transmission. Australian Medical Association Queensland's (AMAQ) council of general practice chairwoman Maria Boulton said her clinic started wearing masks last week when there was community transmission in south Brisbane. "Now the border has opened, I know there are a lot of clinics that have asked staff and patients to wear masks," Dr Boulton said. "I also know there are a lot of clinics that have not stopped asking staff and patients to wear masks."
